Come celebrate cinema this week at Grand Prairie’s annual showcase of local and international filmmaking. Stanford Grand Prairie Hotel is proud to sponsor this year’s Reel Shorts Film Festival taking place May 4-8 at the Second Street Theatre. This popular Grand Prairie event caters to cineophiles of all ages and tastes, with everything from documentaries to dramas. The festival also features special workshops and screenings for young aspiring auteurs, with special appearances by the directors themselves.
Beginning in 2007, the Reel Shorts Film Festival was established by founder Terry Scerbak, as a way of showcasing local filmmakers from the Peace region of northwest Alberta and northeast BC alongside international talent. Since then, attendance has doubled, with youth programs and filmmaking workshops being a major draw.
