With such a rich and vibrant arts scene, there is always plenty of culture to take in and appreciate in Grande Prairie. And, for any theatre lovers visiting us this spring, there are a couple of particularly fantastic productions hitting the stage that you will not want to miss. Here are two that we have marked in our calendars:

Much Ado About Nothing

Benedick and Beatrice are tricked into confessing their love for each other, while Claudio is fooled into leaving Hero at the alter on the false belief that she has been unfaithful to him. Will the couples ever be able to clear the smoke and make it right? William Shakespeare’s roaring comedy about gossip, love, deception, and misunderstandings runs from March 26 to April 11 at the Grande Prairie Live Theatre, which is one of Canada’s largest non-profit community theatre companies.

La Cage Aux Folles

Running from May 28 to June 12 at the KMSC Law Performing Arts Theatre, this musical comedy was adapted into the hilarious hit movie, The Birdcage, which starred Robin Williams. La Cage Aux Folles follows the farcical antics that ensue when a gay couple — Georges, the owner of a Saint-Tropez nightclub that features drag entertainment and Albin, his partner — invite the ultra-conservative parents of Georges’ son’s fiancée over for dinner.

Before you head out to the theatre for the evening, have a meal at one of the Grande Prairie Stanford Hotel’s two on-site restaurants: Monica’s Family Restaurant and Sipps Bar & Grill. Along with excellent dining, our Alberta hotel also offers exceptional amenities including a fully equipped fitness room and sauna. Plus, our wide variety of comfortable, spacious, and pet-friendly accommodations ensure that you have everything you need to make your stay as enjoyable as possible.
