Do you enjoy spending time outdoors? Having you been using the summer season as an opportunity to improve your fitness levels? Have you ever dreamed of accompanying Bear Grylls into the wild? Then the Off the Grid Adventure Race might be right up your alley.

The Off the Grid Adventure Race is a 45-60 km trekking, mountain biking and paddling race that takes participants through some truly spectacular Northern Alberta landscapes. Participants will compete in groups of two as they navigate their way through the course to the finish line. The full-day race kicks off at 6 am on Saturday, August 24 and goes until 8 pm.

The race is unsupported, meaning that racers will be responsible for transporting their own food and supplies through the course. Success on the trail requires excellent navigation and orienteering skills as competitors are also encouraged to find their own way to the finish line. This is a unique opportunity to experience some truly beautiful natural environments while working to conquer a mental and physical challenge.

In 2019, the race will also be introducing a Sprint Event, in which racers will be able to take things to the next level and compete on a shorter track, of 20-28 km. The Sprint Event will be a true test of stamina and athletic prowess. The 2019 event will also feature a Family Geocache event, in which families can practice their navigation skills together to find caches located in the park.

The race will take place at the Nitehawk Year-Round Adventure Park, a recreational area and campground that features a ski hill, mountain bike park, and a Freestyle water ramp. The park features trails for all fitness levels, from casual strollers to hiking enthusiasts. Visitors can also rent a bike and check out the bike park.
